Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser & Moisture Surge Face Spray Review

My skin is definitely dry, and so those with dry skin will know that what our complexion absolutely craves more than anything is hydration and moisture. So what does this mean? Well pretty much that moisturisers and hydrating face masks are our absolute best friend. Dry skin can cause the skin to feel tight, look dull and can unfortunately also be prone to dry patches.

With this in mind I have learnt that it is so important to hydrate my face morning and night to keep my dry skin woes at bay, but it also means I am always on the look out for more skin care products that are suitable for dry skin. Introducing Clinique’s Pep Start HydroBlur Moisturiser and Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief.

Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser

This moisturiser is unlike any other moisturiser I have used before as it has a hybrid formula that acts as an all-in-one moisturiser and a primer. I found this really interesting, and potentially I great time saving product to use in the morning before you apply your make up.

The Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturiser is a hydrating moisturiser that once absorbed into the skin leaves a demi-matte finish which helps to blur pores and fine lines, leaving your skin feeling soft, subtle and very smooth. In terms of hydration I feel this would be just the right amount of moisture for those with normal to oily skin, however for those with dry skin (especially in the winter months) I found that I still wanted to apply a light weight moisturiser beforehand, and then once that had absorbed, use this over top. The formula feels like a cross between a creamy moisturiser with that has a a slight silicone feel to it, like many primers have.

Now I know you may be thinking, “Why would you want to use this if you have to moisturise before anyway?” Well here’s the thing. With dry skin, I feel primers are either too silicone based and feel uncomfortable on the skin, or provide beautiful radiance but not necessarily any lasting power. With this product I found it really does help with locking in my foundation for the day, feels light weight and comfortable, and also adds even more hydration that my skin constantly lusts after. So adding a lightweight moisturiser beforehand is what my skin needs, but I really am impressed by this product as my makeup apples beautifully over top.

Like I said, for those with normal to dry skin, by itself it is a really great, timesaving product for your morning routine, and as for us girls with dry skin, it is perfect for giving your skin some added hydration and a great base for your foundation. It has recently launched 2nd September and you can find it here for £24.50.

Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin Relief

The Moisture Surge Face Spray comes from the absolute beloved ‘Moisture Surge’ family that really does cater for those with dehydrated skin. It is an oil-free facial spray that quenches your skins thirst with active aloe to replenish and balance your skins moisture level, leaving your face feeling supple and hydrated.

I would say this definitely feels like more of a moisturising facial treatment than a spritz and it is fragrance free. I have been using this after my moisturiser has absorbed and before I apply my makeup. I like how I can also reach for this for a boost throughout the day when my skin is feeling a little tight or dull. It absorbs very quickly which I appreciate and it doesn’t leave any residue so it is great to use over top of your makeup. This would also be great to take with you (though you will have to transfer it to a smaller bottle) for when your travelling on a flight, and will come super handy in the winter when the cold winds are not being too kind on your skin! The Moisture Surge Face Spray Thirsty Skin is £22.00.

I am still on the look out for any skincare saviours for dry skin, so if you have any you just can’t live without please let me know in the comments below!

Until next time, Em x
