The Sunday Post #3 – The Beauty Lover Tag

It’s Sunday, which calls for a lazy day catching up on blog posts, drinking tea, watching Netflix and not feeling at all guilty about chilling out. Sundays are great. With that said, for todays post I have decided to do’The Beauty Lovers Tag’.  I recently read Ash’s post at MsTantrum and thought it would be a fun and interesting post to write and read!

If you could have anyone in the world do your makeup, who would it be?
I would love to have my makeup done & have the opportunity to meet Charlotte Tilbury, Not only is she is incredibly talented, but it would be an amazing opportunity to ask her many questions about her career and experiences. She has worked with the elite in the fashion industry, including Mario Testino, Kate Moss, Mert & Marcus and Giselle Bundchen and has worked behind the scenes of top fashion shows and campaigns such as Tom Ford, Donna Karen and Missoni before creating her own makeup line empire. Very inspirational, I wouldn’t even care how my make up turned out – but I know it would be amazing!
Alternatively it would definitely be Jaclyn Hill! Her makeup is perfection, she is incredibly talented and it would be such a fun experience to meet with her to have my make up done!

What’s your top makeup tip?
If I was to give a ‘top’ tip, it would be to make sure you take the time to work on your skincare routine. I have incredibly dry skin, so ensuring I am cleansing, exfoliating a couple of times a week, toning and moisturising, my makeup always applies so much smoother and my skin looks healthier. I would also say to use a beauty blender!  I love those little sponges of goodness. They give my foundation a more airbrushed finish and add a little more moisture and hydration which is always welcome on my face!

What one skincare item could you not live without?
Moisturiser! Hands down, every time. With dry skin it is a necessity. I have really been enjoying the L’Oreal Nutri Gold Silky Day Cream which I received in my Look Incredible Box this month (post). It is beautifully rich and fairly thick cream, so I prefer to use it as a night cream. When I wake up my skin feels ultra smooth and nourished, so I would really recommend this if your struggling to find a good, rich cream.

What are you worst at when it comes to applying makeup?
I still need to work on my eyeshadow techniques. I wouldn’t say I am bad by all means, but I would love to work on my technique to do harder looks that are out of my comfort zone. I’m also not great at painting my nails, despite being qualified in acrylic nails…how does that work?! I am just too impatient to let them dry and they always smudge.

What’s your biggest pet peeve about makeup?
I hate when people will make comments because you don’t wear a ‘natural’ look. Or the comments of ‘you look a bit dressy?’ I am naturally a very ‘dressy’ person, and will wear lashes and a bold lip most days because I enjoy makeup, it is expressive and I see absolutely no reason why I should not. If I am wearing a bright purple lip and heels that day I see absolutely no reason why that should concern any one else!

What’s your favourite makeup era?
It would be split between the fifties and todays era. The fifties was very glam, think Marylyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn with the Scarlett red lips and soft waves. Today’s era is also very exciting, with all the new techniques, makeup revelations and make up now being respected as more of an art form, the whole industry has become a lot more self expressive and I am really enjoying being in the mist of it all.

Whats your Guilty Pleasure Product?
Lipstick..I own too many and will still purchase more because they are the one product that can really switch up a look. I enjoy wearing deep bold shades in the winter such as plums, blood reds and purples and then when the warmer weather returns I revert back to pinks, corals and nudes. A particular guilty pleasure product for me is the YSL Rouge Volupte Lipsticks. They are just beautiful. There will actually be a post up soon on my little collection so look out for that.

Whats your underdog product?
A good primer really makes a difference, so although it may not be something you can see, it ensures your makeup will stay put all day and will smooth out your pores. I have been using Benefits PoreFESSional for years and it is brilliant.

Whats your favourite Makeup product of 2015?
This is such a tricky question to ask a beauty blogger to choose just one! I have atlas two that I have to mention, and that is the Nars Sheer Glow foundation and the Benefit’s Watts Up Highlighter. Nars Sheer Glow has that lovely light to medium coverage and leaves a beautiful semi matte finish that does not cling to my dry areas of my face – unusual with a somewhat matte finish. Benefit’s Watts Up Highlighter in 2015 was one of my favourite highlighters to use. It is a champagne shade with a cream to powder formula and blends effortlessly.

I would love to tag all my readers to do this tag, and if you do please comment your post below or tweet me at @Emma_Laurenx I would love to read all your posts! I would also like to tag:
