Hello January! 2016 Goals

Happy New Year!

Welcome to the new year! I hope everyone had a great new years eve and spent it with the ones you love – although I am sure atleast one or two of you are regretting that one too many jlägerbombs! Alas, the new year is upon on us, and that calls for some more memories to be created and goals to tackle!

As I look back on 2015, I had a really great year. I lived in London, visited my favourite city in the world, Paris, I began interning at various fashion publications that I have always admired and gained some really great memories with the ones I love. I promise this isn’t going to be a ‘a new year – new me’ type of post, but I do have some resolutions for the new year that I thought would be nice to share and look back on in the following months to come.

Blogging
  • 2016 is the year I really want to get back into blogging. As a full time fashion journalism student, interning whenever I possibly can at various magazines and working whenever I have a spare day free (Being a poor student is tough!), my blog has unfortunately taking a back seat. With the new year I am aiming to get organised post regular content here on my blog.
  • Take photos in bulk. I find that having photo’s readily available makes blogging so much easier when you have a busy schedule, so this is definitely a goal of mine.
  • Schedule. My aim is to post twice a week so that I am regularly producing content. I take pride in the pieces that I write, so for me it is quality over quantity. If I feel like I can up my schedule days I will, however for the time being I shall be posting on Wednesdays and Sundays which I am really looking forward to! I hope once I get my organisation into check I can get a regular schedule on the go!

Career
  • Interning. As an aspiring fashion/beauty journalist I am very determined to try and gain as much experience as I can. In the past year I have managed to intern at publications such as Look, The Mail on Sunday and Fabulous magazine. In 2016, I definitely want to utilise opportunities throughout the year and to get as much as experience as I can. I already have a few planned in, including Vogue, Glamour, Grazia, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire which is exciting!
  • Get work published. For 2016 I really want to focus on getting some of my work published, as it would be great for my portfolio of work. It’ll be tough, but this is something I really want to work on and achieve.
  • Work Hard and Stay Motivated. Although gaining experience is important to me, my main priority is working hard and staying motivated for my degree. I hope to continue to do my best and take pride in all the pieces of work I submit, and also have fun whilst I am at uni!

Personal
  • Reading. I’m pretty sure this is one of my resolutions every year…but I definitely want to try and read more. If I am on holiday, I will read countless books and I really enjoy it but as I arrive home life gets the better of me and I barely will even read a chapter of one. As i’m now a commuter, I think it would be great to, rather than stare out the window wondering why I am so hungry and how long it will be till i can crawl back into my duvet, utilise this time read. It is a great escapism from when your hectic, so if anyone has any book recommendations, send them my way!
  • Get fit. Ugh. Possibly the most universal resolution that all of us have genuine aspirations to resolve, yet unfortunately always seems to subtly dissapate throughout the year. I haven’t exercised properly in forever. I just hate the gym. Its mundane and not my thing. I’m going to try and find something to get back into for the new year.
  • Simply be happy. No explanation needed, I just wish to be happy and healthy throughout 2016.
I wish you all a very happy New Year!

Until Next Time, Emma x
